WW1 and Golden Age Fun Fly Wrapup

On the July 27th, 2008, the 495th R/C Squadron, Inc. held a
WW1 and Golden Age Fun Fly at the John A. Ogonowski Model Flying Field (Pinnacle Street) in
Tewksbury, MA. This event, hosted by Art Alfano, was open to all current AMA members, and was
limited to WW1 and 'Golden Age' (pre-1939) aircraft. In spite of a gloomy
weather forecast, the rain held off until later in the day!! Approximately 25 pilots wowed the crowd with almost continuous
flying, providing an
exciting, and fun-filled time for all! Beginning at 10:00 AM and running until
3:00 PM,
these gorgeous airplanes of yesteryear were enjoyed by everyone in
attendance!!
A special thanks to Art Alfano, our host, for conceiving
of this event, and getting the word out to ensure a great turn-out! Everyone
had so much fun that many of the pilots and spectators alike were heard to
encourage Art to make this a yearly event!
Thanks also to Paul Gosselin (transmitter impound), Rick
Breton (PA system).
Lunch - A total of 120 hotdogs, 80 hamburgers, 6 bags
of chips, 16 bottles of soda, and 4 bags of cookies were served at the
WW1 and Golden Age Fun fly . All food was purchased by Jim Thompson, and
Paul Gosselin, ably served by Dave Silva, Paul Gosselin, and Bob Merlino !
